Oil pastel on paper, textile, steel⎪2023
On the Spotlight wall, an installation of colour studies was on display, executed in oil pastel drawings and fabric assemblage. This ongoing series of works was initiated during my Master’s research Colour Stories: an investigation into the revelation of subjective colour experiences (Design Research, Piet Zwart Institute, 2021). Through the serial execution of Colour Studies, I explored the optical effects of colour, training the eye to re-experience colour. Once framed – as crystallised experiences – the studies invite the viewer to allow their own personal colour associations to emerge.The exhibition took place from 23 February-8 March 2023. Steel frames for textile work are designed by Joep Brouwer.
